I an a freshman at the Cleveland Institute of Art. I have about 3 more weeks until this first semester is done and I feel like I have 100% wasted my time. I don't understand how this school's reputation is so good and why there is only 1 negative comment. I haven't learned a single thing since I've been here. Don't get me wrong, about half of the freshman are having wonderful experiences with wonderful teachers and are expanding their horizons in the art world. My entire life, all I've wanted to do is art. And now that I'm here, I don't want to go into art anymore. This school has made me hate it. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE. It was a waste of my time. My teachers do not care about the students. Of course, like I said, there are some good teachers, but not most of mine. I had two good teachers. All of the others were self righteous and absorbed in their own ways. One teacher I had every week, 5 hours a day, for 7 weeks. On the last day he asked me what my name was, we only had 14 students in the class. Most of the people I've talked to are transferring. I know I am. And I'm not transferring to another art school either. This school has created a new curriculum for the Foundation year. They cut both Material Color and Digital color in half, only half a semester each. Which I personally (along with others) do not think this is enough. They are such important classes which they cut down to have Charettes classes. These classes are a complete waste of money and time. We use our iPads in these classes (which the school gave to this freshman class for free) but we don't need them for anything at all besides quick references.

I wouldn't go to this school. I'm not sorry I'm leaving and I'm not regretting it at all.
