Date: Dec 07 2011
Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
Academics: Not difficult, compared to the top universities in the state (GT, Emory, UGA). However, it is definitely harder than high school. You actually have to work, read, and study hard. The teachers are overall very nice and try to help you if you go up to them.

Social Life: Eh, it's not the greatest. But like many people say, College is what you make it. If you make an sincere attempt to meet people and socialize, you'll definitely be make plenty of friends and find your "circle of friends" that many entering freshman are anxiously searching for. No parties are allowed for the Greeks. Most people go to clubs, house parties, or take Marta up to Tech. It's Atlanta; make the most of it!

Housing: The Commons is the best, by far. Piedmont North used to be a hotel, and the rooms aren't the greatest, but they do have a dining hall. Freshman hall is the most social, but you do have to share a room with someone else. I don't know much about the Lofts. All of them are relatively safe. One thing that is unappealing is that whenever you bring guests, they are required to obtain a guest pass. Those lines can take forever during the weekends. This is especially inconvenient for people living in the Commons.

Campus: There is no campus. Not a traditional campus. It's all spread out. The buildings are kind of randomly placed. But there's no two points on campus that will take more than 15 minutes to walk to. The buses are very inconsistent, and the bus drivers can sometimes be rude. Campus police make a valid attempt to make the campus safe. There will be an occasional homeless person ask for money, but that's the worst I've run into. You do have to be careful especially at night. There's at least one campus alert once a week, but most of them are robberies. Just don't be stupid and walk around alone at night with your iPad in hand. Stay in well-lit areas.

Sports: GSU is not a very school-spirited school. But if you wanna support the panthers, go for it!

Recreation Center: Pretty nice. 5-6 full-length b-ball courts. Above-average weight room. One running track. Racquetball courts. Rooms for yoga/self-defense/dance/etc. Game room. Climbing-wall. Three stories.

FLC: Kind of a waste of time. You do make friends, but a couple classes you take aren't needed.

Student population: There's around 30,000 students. It's crazy. It can get pretty crowded in the plaza/courtyard. I don't know the official stats, but this is what I personally see: 50% black, 35% white, 15% everyone else (asian, middle-eastern, hispanic, etc.) It's a very diverse community, so come in with an open mind. 60% female, 40% male.

Overall, I like GSU. One thing remember for college (or life), is to keep a positive attitude. People with negative reviews are generally those people that complain about everything. Don't be that guy/girl. Please. ***Also, if you are interested in a Christian community/church/and also don't mind hanging out with a lot of Asians, check out the Journey Church of Atlanta! I'm so glad I found this church. This was the biggest highlight of my first semester. :D
