Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
My department at UM (English) is fine, albeit boring. There aren't very many exciting or innovative course offerings. It seems at least 50% of the classes have to do with 18th century English literature.

My real problem is with the kind of students the University attracts. The vast majority of them are spoiled rich kids who are just here for the beach. The rest come because they are obsessed with the athletic department, or are Florida residents who were offered substantial scholarships. It is difficult to be engaged in classes with such pathetic raw material for class discussion. Any interesting aspects of the University are downplayed in favor of football.

The school tries to suck extra money out of you at every turn- particularly the parking department. Parking passes are exorbitantly priced, especially compared to other universities in the area. Parking tickets are insane- between $35 and $50. The school is heavily geared towards on campus students, commuters are forgotten about, probably because they are less likely to have rich parents.
