I am currently enrolled at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and I have read most of the comments posted. Honestly some of the most positive times of my life occured in that building. With that being said, the most humiliating experience of my life was the moment I realized that I had spent four years of my life, working my ass off for a bestowed degree. For all of the super educated, know-it-alls, pro AI lobbyist on this post whom some how found it appropriate to call President Barack Obama (THE FIRST BLACK MAN TO HOLD THE MOST IMPORTANT SEAT ON THE GLOBE):) a big ear idiot in the oval office. Bestowed means to confer such as to bestow an honorary degree, that is why the credits dont transfer to other strong universities and schools. It says right in your contract (which most of probably didnt read in its entirety, becaused we were distracted by the smoke being blown up our asses during the meeting with the admissions rep who paints a picture of you becoming the next Gordon Ramsey, Emeril Legasse, Steven Spielberg. Your taken on a tour of the school and shown work from famous people who attended the school with the implication that with a degree from their school. After 4 or 5 years of the b.s. (dangling carrot in front of the donkey trick) your so deep in debt that you cant even get more loan money to get you through your last classes. Finally, the school insist that you borrow money from the school so that you can finish. But what they dont tell you is that, you wont get the degree until you pay back the school. So how can I get a job without the degree? Furthermore, the school is not under any obligation to help you get a better paying job inn your field because your contract states in fine print, the school's goal is to train you to achieve an entry level position into the field. After $90,000.00 of debt, the only job Im worthy of is a dishwashing job, mcdonalds cashier job, server, line cook, making a whopping $9-11 per hour. Without the degree in hand you'll never get a better position, and you'll never make enough to pay AI back to get the degree on $9-12 per hour. So now your stuck, unless your fortunate enough to get work for yourself, which are my plans. I couldve done this without the degree, that I probably will never have anyway. I maintained a 3.6-3.8 most of the time in the school and I was awarded the merit scholarship for my high achievements prior to attending that school, I also qualified for $50,000 in scholarships. And yes I voted for Barack, and yes I can form a complete sentence, and yes I fell for the same scam you all did. reguardless of what side of the arguement your on, we all fell for it, but if it makes you feel better about your choice to deny it, then by all means, deny, deny, deny!! Look at the ratio of people who felt this was a good decision to the people who felt that it was a bad one.We are not all lazy and ignorant.
