Plain and simple people: You're in the middle of South Central LA! Walk one street away from this place and there's a good chance a homey will blow your head off.

Academically…on par with any community college. A big positive was the football program…but even that proved to be corrupt.

The US News ranking for this place (#23 nationally) seems impressive, however, further research into the reason USC was ranked so high is because the con their alumni into senselessly throwing money into the university fund. (By the way, according to the US News ranking methodology, they score 35% of the total tally off of alumni contributions and only 10% on academic quality).

Save you dough and pass on this over-priced, ivy league wanna-be school and go to an establishment where you WILL get a better education (California has much better places like UC Berkley, Stanford and UCLA)

On the very minor plus side…since you are in "the hood"…there's a very good chance you could get yourself on COPS or some other reality police show due to the ever present violence and car chases…FUN!

Responses
responseI agree with you on what it's like to pay this high tuition only to discover that you are really attending school and living on a campus that's classified as a war zone. USC's neighborhood was the hugest culture shock for me that I had ever experienced in my life! That place around the university is scary!
