Coming from a girl who has lived in Vegas for quite some time now, I would not recommend UNLV, for these reasons: UNLV Overall- Unlv is not a place for students who would like to expand their horizons, grow as an individual, and who would like to have frequent intellectual conversations with peers. UNLV is also not a place for the over achievers or hard workers. It is very easy to get an A at this school. Just do the bare minimum and you'll do great! UNLV also doesn't give students with high GPA'S (3.5-4.0's) much recognition. You would think one who maintained an above average GPA would have scholarships coming from left and right. Not the case. The campus size of UNLV is oh so small! I hate the fact that I see the same people every single day! I would like to attend a school where I can meet new and interesting people on a daily basis. The people here are of low quality. People are shallow and narrow-minded. People are pretty much carbon copies of each other here. Las Vegas period is not a place for unique, real, and ambitious people. Ages of students here range from 18-56 and I am not lying. Most of the older students (30-50) are undergrads! This school is for losers and high school slackers. If you aren't really an academic nut like myself you will most likely be seen as an outsider! Idk just my opinion. But what more can you expect from a cheap school and education? If you have the choice to go somewhere else, go! Don't get me wrong facilities here are pretty up-to-date like the GYM and the Library, but this place is just so depressing and negative! People here are always negative, miserable, or in a bad mood! Yuck! I can't wait to transfer!

commentI agree that this school is so cheap and poor.
responseLosers? Just because they are older? I'm 52 and going back for a third degree in foreign languages. My GPA for my undergrad degree was 3.87 and the grad degree from an IVY League school was 3.91. I own my own business and make about 1/3 of a million per year working part time. I am semi-retired and want to further my education for fun. My family lives in the Las Vegas area so that is the school that is most convenient. Sounds to me like the loser here is you.
questionSo their Starr's support isn't that great either? Do you learn a lot or are they just teaching basics? How about student body support? Pride?
responseAfter I read this student's review, I agree 100% and to the 52 year old student with the nerve to call her a loser, you're wrong. She sounds like one of the very few intelligent people who go to UNVL and she deserves better. Las Vegas is a shithole and you know it. Anyone can get into UNLV. It's nothing special. So to the student who wrote the review, you can do so much better than this terrible school. You deserve it. People who brag about how much money they make are probably lying.
responseThe 52 year old who responded—you sound like a conceited jerk who likes to throw it in other people's faces. Do you just do that because you want people to be jealous of you? About all the students and faculty who know that UNLV being a loser school, that's actually a legitimate and objective fact because it doesn't attract the top 10% of any high school graduating class, not even ghetto high schools. I also wonder which ivy league universities you did attend for real.
responseHmmm. I think that this review is accurate. It's true that if you have a lot of drive and intelligence and want to get recognition by the school, you probably won't have anything in common with the vast majority of the student body. But if you just want to do the bare minimum and don't care about getting a good education, you'll fit in just fine. Like any ordinary school, UNLV is going to have an intelligent and qualified portion of the student body. But most students don't have the drive.
responseI like the honesty of this review.
