Date: Feb 16 2012 Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time) Many of the instructors are typically hired from within a small group of Christian colleges, hiring mainly based on religious belief not academic achievement. This leads to a certain level of academic inbreeding, stagnant thought, and limited intellectual freedom.Religious beliefs of college often make for very biased administrative positions, for example expelling a student who had an affair with an instructor, but keeping the instructor; or preventing staff members from assuming leadership positions because they had been divorced.Security of student property is often problematic as thefts are generally not reported to the police in order to prevent the school?s insurance rates from increasing. Too much emphasis and money put on the basketball program; mediocre talent in a small college that can never hope to compete seriously regionally. Academic counseling is weak and sporadic; psychological counseling for students questionable in its professional integrity. Internship programs lack cohesion and faculty support in many cases. The born-again atmosphere is a thin disguise for an academically weak instructional pool, an insufficient library with poorly ?trained staff, and ?science? instructors more concerned with ?faith? than actual, quantifiable, scientific fact.
