in nyc should be avoided. Instead, go to HB studios,
or another workshop that is cheaper. The main issue
is the abusive teachers. One in particular is Jackie Solotar.
She is an older woman, who is verbally abusive,
and seems to not not what she is talking about.
Will get angry, if you tell her that she
seems to not know what she's talking about. Everyone
of my classmates dreaded going to her class. I
don't know why AADA wont hire younger, experienced, and more
relevant teachers. My guess is because Jackie has been
there so long, they can under pay her, but thats
just my guess. Im embarrassed having AADA on my resume,
and have taken it off. When going to auditions,
CD/producers are not impressed, and though the school “use”
to be top notch, it's a joke now. I've been
on the other end, where I've had to cast, and
when I see AADA on an actor's resume, I cringe
and am turned off. On IMDB, Jackie Solotars only
credit is from 1979. It's not too much an abusive
teacher can teach anyone, when they last acted, as an
extra, in the 70's. I think she still thinks its
the 70's, with her atrocious hair.
