Major: Geography and Geosciences (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a geology major who attended SUU for one semester. The reasons why I eventually left had nothing specifically to do with SUU itself. This is a decent school with a strong academic program and excellent professors (at least in my experience). In regard to other comments posted, I think it's important to understand that interstate 15 runs from LA to Las Vegas and up through Cedar City, so culturally there is a lot of spill over from those two cities. Many of these people have an attitude that makes for a tense atmosphere around town and on campus. A thug attitude if you will. I have lived in many places around the country, and California is the only other place where I have experienced this kind of cultural atmosphere. Enough said there. I've lived in Utah for five years now and I can say that the mormon influence isn't always so great, but for the most part if you keep to your business they will keep to theirs.

The school itself is beautiful. There isn't much to do in town, but if you like the outdoors there is much to see and do. The financial aid office leaves something to be desired, but I never had a problem with my advisers. In fact they were much more helpful than I was used to considering other schools I have attended. The great advantage, in my opinion, in attending SUU is that there are very FEW graduate degrees offered. This may sound counter intuitive, but at other larger schools I have attended most instructors don't really even respect you unless you are a grad student. For the most part, this isn't even an issue at SUU because most departments are comprised entirely of undergraduates.

The reason I left SUU and Cedar City was because I was hemorrhaging money. I have had five years of military training in law enforcement and aircraft maintenance among other things, and I could not land a job to save my life! There just isn't much there as far jobs are concerned. This may be something to really consider if you are looking at SUU as a possibility.
