BSU is the only college I have gone to, so I have no other college to compare it to, but here are my thoughts. The PhDs in the CJ department are all good, especially Dr. Giacamazzi. However, not all the professors are very good (Jim Cluphf is a joke). We lost 3 PhDs recently (2 went to a different University, and one passed away) so alot of classes are being taught by adjunct faculty who leave alot to be desired.Personally, I have never got any benefit out of advisors because they never told me anything different than what was in the course catalog, but they certainly tried to help.Personally I think some of the required CJ classes are a waste of time. Unless you're going to graduate school I see no reason why the typical CJ student needs Statistics, Research Methods, or Senior Seminar. My last semester was the only semester I ever felt the urge to throw in the towel because I felt like it was made purposely very difficult. BSU doen't have a great graduation rate, and the difficulty of Senior Seminar combined with my other classes made me realize why. I frequently considered dropping classes so that I would have time to keep up with the requirements of Senior Seminar. Up until my final semester all my classes were easy, then suddenly they were difficult as hell.Ultimately, Boise State is what you make of it. You gotta make an effort if you want to enjoy yourself. Go to social events, join clubs, work hard in your classes, and especially for CJ majors: DO INTERNSHIPSPros
