" A weak minority of the Department of Bible" and " acquaintance that didn't learn and get technology" …, why the *&^& do you go to Colgate or Yale asshole. |
I will say in my support, those thumpers rubbing you raw did not speak a location or rendezvous to get walked so far and wide. I'm sure it happend with conversations of opportunity and fair emplyment, well git to it lattaer. |
Things about your comments are good suggestions. There are things about Harding maybe you take for grngs I think you are incorrect on. A liberal arts University like Harding, a Private school basically is self supportive and funds itself and overhead of annual costs. The Campus is a good looking campus. The buildings are in working order with fully working amenities and facilities. To the credit of Harding University, you knew they are a Church of Christ University with their mission statement and charter. Here's the reality. Most feel the rules are strict and you chose to take classes and enroll. You are a good student and feet addition to the Bison alumni, ( not knowing who you are) just to save yourself some fast answers and short conversations accept the fact that some of the things you are upset with, aren't the university's fault. |
Major: Mechanical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
Harding University is… frustrating. The University treats its students like little children (12 AM curfew, no shorts to class, blocked websites, signing out when you go home, many classes take attendance—just to name a few). The Student body is generally acceptable to get along with, although there are many hardcore "Bible Thumpers" that will rub you raw. The administration is a pathetic and unmoving bulwark of idiocy that stands in adamant opposition to the advancement of humanity. The fact that the aforementioned rules are enforced (and quite severely, to be honest) is a testament to this fact. Look up the "HUqueerpress" debacle for another example.Chapel is an every day ordeal with forced attendance and fake worship. I leave every day feeling annoyed instead of —whatever the heck that is supposed to mean. The IT department is quite pitiful. "Dormnet," the service wing of the IT department is full of people who don't have the slightest idea how to fix a computer issue. An acquaintance applied to work for them, was accepted, and was taken "at his word" that he knew how to deal with technology—he doesn't.The internet sucks. Plain and simple. The first semester I attended Harding, our browsers were plagued with 404 errors and this strange "blue screen" that occurred when you were removed from browsing because of maxed-out bandwith. They finally purchased more, yet it is nigh on impossible to play Xbox Live with the horrific connection speeds. The drainage system on campus is even abysmal. You walk through ankle-deep puddles all across campus during any intensity of rainfall. The cafeteria is mediocre on a good day and outright disgusting on a bad day. It is difficult to eat healthy, as the quality of the healthy food is so poor it is difficult to consume. They often run out of the fresh fruit and vegetables, when they have them, and the "comfort food line" is rarely acceptable. It's possible, but difficult. Bible classes are as one would expect at an hyper-conservative private Christian University in the South. There are 3 religion professors at this school who are known to provide high-quality lectures and are willing to talk about things from other view-points than just the simple-minded elementary Christian angle (Dr. Cox, Dr. Sandlin, Dr. Adair, if any are curious). However these three represent a weak minority of the Department of Bible. The professors are, however, for the most part, genuinely good people who would rather help a student than take the easy road and fail them.I know many people who love the University, I know many people who hate it but have limited options to move to another school (myself included). It is apparent to me that the majority of students tend to "put up with" the circus that is Harding.
