Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
Good:
  • The school is 10 miles away from Boston.
  • There is a shuttle service to take you to the Riverside T station or you can walk to it in fifteen minutes.
  • Tiny classes, more individual attention.
  • Pretty big dorms.
  • Bad:

  • Unorganized professors, club presidents, office staff. Generally, everyone on this campus is unorganized in the way they plan or teach a lesson. The end result is that nothing gets accomplished or you are on your own to figure it out.
  • Not many resources. The library is miniscule compared to the one in my hometown. The rooms are small with limited technology, not very advanced at all. Also, it seems like everything is falling apart on campus.
  • Professors can not teach and simply give out busy work. It feels like elementary school.
  • Location wise, Newton is tiny and there are no places to hang out. There are some small restaurants and a supermarket, but it has nothing fun to do, so you mind as well go to a bigger college in the city itself, Boston night life is better.
  • As a Fashion Design major, I feel like this school is not all what it seems to be. It boasts about an amazing fashion design program, but it is highly lacking compared to Parsons, FIT, Drexel, Syracuse, Marist, U of Arts in Cali. I recommend going to those places instead even if you end up with a lot of debt because you'll actually learn and will probably have better resources/sewing rooms. Half the sewing machine and sergers are broken, and it takes forever to get a sewing technician to fix it. This school runs out of supplies very fast, so you are most likely going to end up spending at least $300 of your own money to cover the fabric and equipment costs. Some professors aren't the best at teaching and will do the complete pattern for you, which will make you lost because you won't know what this seam line meant or how to do it on your own. My advice is that if you are a bright student who already knows how to sew and work a pattern, do not come here because you will be complaining why the hell you're going backwards. But if you are new to sewing this is the school for you because you do not need to have prior experience, they baby step everything and you will find this school okay and learn the basics you'll need.
