I will definitely be transferring next year! After a few years of being at SFSU as an engineering major, I'm sick of the budget cuts, hard to get classes, and lack of motivated people. Even though the school is located in San Francisco, an amazing city, I would much sacrifice my desire to be in this city than stay another year at the institution. Especially if you are planning to obtain a degree in the sciences, I would suggest you apply elsewhere. The science departments, such as the engineering department are run down. The buildings and equipments are very old and some of the professors are unmotivated. I did have some amazing professors however. But despite the fact that there are some good professors, the lack of motivation, intellect amongst the student population, and potential to achieve the greatest is absent.

It feels much like high school at SFSU because of the large number of commuters and students who treat college like a joke. Like seriously, you're paying money for an education and degree. But still, there are a good chunk of people who would rather flunk than to persist by studying or doing homework. Many are just unmotivated or fail to use their potential.

Other departments at SFSU don?t seem to be strong either. However, in comparison to the science departments, other departments are better off. The school should aid their education in the sciences a bit more. There are little or no signs of research activity or prominent projects within various departments. But from the budget cuts, students may never be able to experience a strong educational experience in the near future.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a serious and positive educational experience, then don't go here. If you're looking for a degree that will get you a top-notch job or a degree that is perceived highly of by others such as an employer, then don't go here. If you're more into surrounding city life and would rather focus less on educational values, then this place might be right for you.
