If you are white, you will face a bit of prejudice here. First off, if you did not know, today's society is full of racism. However, multiple studies have proven it is now towards whites. This is proven here. Most of the RA's are African American and they go out of their way to single out white students. I myself have had a few friends banned from lounges because they refused to leave because the other students who were there were aloud to stay (they were AA's). Also the campus and dorms are a total mess and are basically on the verge of destruction. The people here are so loud, don't count on getting sleep. They stay up all damn night YELLING!!! I have experienced racism, or, ummm… we will call it favoritism, from professors. You can not question students nor professors because they will without a doubt pull the race-card. Not to mention the constant violence. Yes, violence. Mind you this is not a culture shock for me due to the fact I live in a city, I am not being racist I am just telling you about my experience… Now for the college problems itself. The hours for food service are awful. The dining center not only has awful food, but the hours are very inconvenient. The other dining options have even worse hours. They claim to be open till ten but most nights they close at like 8:30. None of it is healthy and there is no selection. And by no selection I even mean the other food spots because it is all the dining center's products as well. Then there are those who work in all admissions, financial aid, and every other possible office. I feel like these people may not realize they are working because they refuse to get anything done, even process (place in file cabinet) many forms. This makes everything a severe pain at the beginning and ends of semesters. The worst is Residence Life. These people are plain stupid. I mean Stupid. Like, what are you thinking/talking about? They do not help you with anything and pretty much say screw you deal with it yourself. To sum it up SUNY Canton is all in everything for the money. They could careless about a graduation rate or who succeeds and who doesn't. If you go here you feel like the university does not care about you, or your future… except the fact that they will convince you that giving the more money will help you.
