Positives-
Small class sizes and decent academic programs and professors
for size and profile of the school. Campus has nice
grounds and views. Some hotspots on the campus include the
large cafeteria, the evening cafe, and the well equipped athletic
center (complete with new fitness gym, basketball courts, pool, and
new outdoor tennis courts). The scholarship packages and aid are
more than generous, making it very affordable. Also, the school
offers a D1 athletic program. Basketball games are great school
spirit attractions during the winter.
Negatives
The area
is not college friendly. Emmitsburg is a fairly depressed rural
town and offers very little in terms of nightlife or
entertainment. Overall, the campus needs some structural work. Some dorm
buildings have been renovated, others are very outdated (no air
conditioning and old communal bathrooms). The academic buildings make a
public elementary school look nice.
Please note
The campus
safety and administration are very strict. They crack down on
drinking, especially on the wekends. Be prepared to spend a
lot of time quietly drinking in your dorm room before
going down to the mount cafe for a drunken quasedilla.
For
A student who wants a good, but
not too challenging, education and a strong extracurricular involvement (sports
namely, then volunteer work, outdoor adventures, Bible study).

The work hard, play hard type
