DO NOT go here if you know what's good for you.  School is run down, infested with HUGE roaches, bedbugs and lice outbreaks.  No building in the school has air conditioning except for the PEG building (14-year-old who go to college) For ONE year here it costs me as much as 4 years at any other college.  NOT WORTH THE MONEY.  The food is inedible, there is no place to eat 24/7, the dining hours are short and ridiculous.  There's NOTHING to do.  No nightlife, nothing fun to do.  The surrounding city is dead.  The computers are old and out of date, barely working.  The gym is tiny and pathetic.  You won't get any scholarships from the school if you didn't do perfect in high school or are white.  The faculty is rude and impossible to contact.  The only good things is the classes that they do offer (slim pickings) are good and the professors are nice.  Complete waste of my time and money, I'm transferring ASAP if any college will even accept my credits from this joke of a college.

commentYet another 2015 member..Just not shocked by your review.

responseTo the above commenter-most of what this review says is pretty accurate. Mary Baldwin is quite expensive. Almost any college in the country has more convenient dining hours, better food, and more generous portions. When I first came here, you could at least get however much food you wanted. Now they have the idiotic token system. Staunton truly is a boring town unless you are rich enough to pay the prices of downtown. Everyone likes to hype up "beautiful historic" downtown Staunton, with its ridiculously high prices and early closing hours. Yeah, 30 bucks for a pizza or 5 dollars for a beer. MBC is a small college, too small to feel like a real college. There is one building which is able to accommodate virtually all of the non-lab classes! Think about that and you will realize how small the place is. However, I must admit that I have no idea about the "Scholarships for white people".

responseI also agree that the review was accurate. This school is certainly a joke. Staff and Faculty try to make it seem like you are going to some prestigious school. However, the academic standards are fairly low. Way too much leniency for lazy students. As for the social scene, if you still relate to high school then this school is perfect for you. The events they host are seriously for little kids. The school cost way too much. Honestly don't see where our tuition goes every year. Save your money and time and do not attend this school.

responseTo the response directly above: I agree, too, and am annoyed most of all by the fact that Mary Baldwin tries to present itself as a good and prestigious school. If you attend classes elsewhere or transfer to another college, you will see that Mary Baldwin isn't even average quality level and just how badly the MBC faculty measure up professors anywhere else. I think MBC has to be lenient. If they weren't, and I'm not joking here!-most students would fail. I seriously don't even think most people do the homework day to day.
