Major: Engineering Department (This Major's Salary over time)
As a graduating senior I have experienced all the ups and downs TAMUG has to offer.

Most of what I have to say has to do with the Engineering department.

Pros: Big school diploma with the small school atmosphere

Good bang for your buck

Cons:

Although Faculty is knowledgeable in their field all they care about is research. One professor even said

I don't get fired for bad teaching I get fired for bad research
and that about says it all.

There are big gaps in the program that needs to be addressed, poor teachers teaching critical subjects.

Several professors are absolutely wonderful, and really do care about teaching and the students so remember this does not go across the board but it seems the professors that have the most say are arrogant, biased, and run around completely unchecked.

Unfair and biased grading occurs and students are afraid to say anything about it because students who have in the past have paid for it with their future grades. I think the biggest lesson the program has tried to teach me is that no matter how hard you work and how well you do you can't get past what someone has already decided for you…which shouldn't be what a university teaches its students.

In the end you will get a highly profitable degree but it will be a bumpy road along the way. TAMUG will definitely teach you that life isn't fair.
