The fact that I have BJU on my resume has kept me from getting a number of jobs in my chosen field of art, as they are well known as biggeted and racist. They are not known for being fair, or for standing up for the Bible and what is right as they try to tell all students as the reason students from there are black-listed at so many jobs around the USA, no they are black-listed because they are, unfair, racist, biggited and un-Biblical, and are well known for such stances as fighting intigration of Blacks into thier school all the way to the high court (they lost). They also lack regonal acredidation, which meens any degree from BJU isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Surely this guy did not learn grammar or spelling at BJU. I have gotten jobs or been offered jobs strictly because BJU was on my resume. Twice I thought the expectation was too great and I couldn't live up to it. I do believe the University is accredited by TRACS now and therefore has federal loans available for students and would also make coursework more transferrable. I believe they are also in the process or have also become regionally accredited. I will say they do concentrate on legalistic rules, buy from personal experience Pensacola Christian College is worse and is following them as far as accreditation is concerned.

Given the egregious spelling/grammar errors in this one short post, Perhaps it's not so much having BJU on your resume that is keeping you from getting a job.

I could not comment as to whether this fellow learned spelling or grammar at BJU. First responder, you seem to be a lucky one. I've heard more stories like this reviewer's- being denied jobs or admission to graduate school because of the school's reputation. TRACS is meaningless. It is a club of Christian colleges slapping each other on the back and saying

Yeah, we're accredited!

Luckily BJU has at long last sought SACSOC regional accreditation- you know, REAL accreditation- but this will not be retroactive even if they get it, and thus only 2016-onward graduates will benefit.

The spelling is not strong with this one, but nonetheless I believe the points are valid. I personally spoke to a member of staff at VCU who told me their graduate school's admissions staff are wary of applicants from BJU, both because of the school's rep and because it has been unaccredited (as far as the rest of the planet is concerned) for so long. TRACS impresses no one but BJU itself.

Just because Pensacola College maybe worse about the legalistic rules does not somehow make BJU better. It just means they're both legalistic and unpleasant.

The reviewer is absolutely right, so far as I, with my absence of egregious spelling/grammar errors, am concerned.

A degree from a place called Bob Jones University isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

According to Christianity Today, Bob Jones University did not give up its ban on interracial dating by students until 2000. So for 73 years a white student and a black, or a member of any other race, could not date one another- as if who and how students date is any of BJU's business anyway. I'd love to see BJU grads excuse this since nothing to do with Bob Jones University is apparently ever wrong. They have leaders who never fail… just like North Korea.
