Major: Music - Composition/Theory (This Major's Salary over time)
The composition department really wasn't up to par for a graduate level program. It was really disorganized but I had great colleagues with whom to interact. Many of the professors are too concerned about their own agenda and do not treat students well. Longy's curriculum needs a major overhaul. Why grad students have to take Eurythmics is beyond me, just seemed to be a way to fill time. And the Experiential Education Program needs to be cut. It was so touchy-feely and is something I would never be interested in doing professionally. The vast majority of my colleagues felt the same way. I could see EEP maybe being a one semester elective but requiring two semesters of it is ridiculous. So, for a MM in composition, there are plenty of programs out there that are a lot better than what Longy offers.
