The State University of New York College - Geneseo

I went to Geneseo for a year. From the very start i didn't enjoy Geneseo. I was extremely lonely the entire time. Everyone at Geneseo is the same, white, majority. I Joined pretty much every club they had and I was still lonely. Everyone here is just so snooty and think they are better than everyone else. People are constantly bragging about how Geneseo is the 'state Ivy,' yeah right, not even close. I did not enjoy the atmosphere. I wish I did because it is supposed to be a good school academically, but I found that I still cannot deal with the horrors of Geneseo just for the academics. There are a few nice people here, but that did not change the overall negative atmosphere I was experiencing. I come from a very good high school, and went here for pre med. I know many people choose here because it's a good school. But just think hard about what you want in a college. I wanted to meet nice fun people and I wanted to fit in. As a gay student I just didn't feel that. And actually felt discriminated against at some points. I hate to say that sometimes I was afraid.

I am transferring to New Paltz in the fall, and I hope things will change for me there. I have a strong feeling they will, and after my new Paltz experience I will be sure to write a review.

Just be careful when attending geneseo, if you're bothered by competitiveness, and snooty boasting people do not go here. It is a college that does seem to work for some people, but I was just not one of those people so I decided to give my five cents about it.
