Major: Criminal (This Major's Salary over time)
I have just completed my first semester at dowling college after taking the first semester off to work in my union job. After about 2-3 weeks I realized Choosing to go to this school was a big mistake. Granted, this was the only school I got accepted to due to the fact that I never took my SAT's because I wanted to have a career in the military, but was unable to join due to an ear injury during my senior year in a car accident where I lost most of my hearing in my right ear. I won't lie, I did about average in high school (I have a 79 overall average and no extracurricular activities from 10th grade on). Overall I only chose to go to dowling in order to continue working in my job at my union and I attended without looking into the school, big mistake. While the campus is beautiful that's all the school has going for it. The students are closed minded and don't branch out to anyone besides their normal seemingly high school cliches. The food is garbage and over priced (3 dollars for a Gatorade). But worst of all is the teachers. Most of them do not teach the majority of the time but rather talk about there other jobs and how they prefer them to teaching. They're not sympathetic to any trouble a student has outside of school (I had a car accident mid semester and missed 2 weeks of class in the hospital, my history professor failed me). Which I was surprised to see in a community school. But worst of all, many of them seem almost racist. I'm white and had 4 white professors out of 5; and those 4 showed multiple accounts of racism during the semester. Honestly don't come here. It's about as good a school as suffolk community or Nassau. The tuition is too high to put up with the non sense. If my union didn't pay for me to go here I would have with drawled my 2nd week and never looked back. DON'T GO HERE!!
