I've grown up around a lot of universities (at least 7 in my 20 years) and I've seen things that work and things that don't. I've seen good presidents and horrible ones. HBU is a good university. It has problems, find me one institution that doesn't. A lot of things have changed in the past year and HBU is on track to become a completely different university (in a good way). Most of the professors I've had have been extremely open and helpful. You get a few that aren't so great, but that's everywhere.

I will say that HBU IS a liberal arts university, so right now a lot of emphasis is being placed on growing that department and not a lot is being done in the Sciences. It's nursing program is competitive, but I'm not a nursing major so I can't say much about that. I will say that HBU has a vision for the future and where it wants to be and is working on achieving those goals. There's a lot of change right now, but it's good change. We're bringing in some brilliant thinkers (John Mark Reynolds, Nancy Pearcey) expanding our sports program, and building our graduate programs. We're in a state of growth right now and I think it's great.

Also, I'll say one last thing. A lot of people are criticizing President Sloan and referencing his break with Baylor. There's a lot that happened behind the scenes with that, that isn't public knowledge, so people should keep their criticisms to themselves until they know the whole story. (source: I was at Baylor when all that stuff went down).
