I am an Education certification student and I will admit that the education department is wonderful. They provide you with many field experiences and the classes really prepare you to become a teacher. My only complaint is that the liberal arts colleges require elementary education majors to also take another major. This provides double the work and if your heart is truly set on becoming a teacher, the other major is pretty much pointless. Another major downfall of the academics at this school are the "liberal arts" or "LINC" requirements. The teachers treat those classes as though they are your major and some of them can be pretty difficult. This is partially my fault for not asking around before I chose my classes. It almost seems unfair that some are so much easier than others. The food is terrible and gets old veryyyyy quickly. Most of the sports teams are not the best but you can't expect too much from a D3 school. The dorms for freshman are pretty bad, but it is fairly easy to get a better place to live the next year. The upperclassmen housing options are pretty good and if you really want a single it isn't all that hard to get. The HILL building built in 2009 is fantastic. Many people do not want to live there because it is on South campus but I think it is worth it. Everyone has a single room and every suite has a living room and full kitchen. The building has a fitness center, computer lab and cafe. My biggest complaint is that after my freshman year Moravian got rid of all off campus housing, meaning you either have to live on campus or with your parents. Even though I never had intentions on living off campus I think this is absolutely ridiculous. Because of this the social scene is virtually all gone. There is nowhere to party and every attempt at having a party whether big or small is pointless because the campus security bust everything. The college doesn't offer any better options that don't involve alcohol so I'm not sure what they want us to do. The campus security is terrible. They constantly give out parking tickets and write people up for drinking that aren't even causing problems. One positive is that the town of Bethlehem is beautiful, especially during Christmas. There are some great restaurants and bars, so the social scene is better if you are 21. All in all, I would not recommend coming to Moravian if you are not an education, music or nursing major or if you are looking for a decent social scene.
