From an academic standpoint, St. Thomas has been a great school. I have enjoyed my classes and learned a lot, and I feel challenged but able to keep up. The professors I have had have been wonderful teachers, and very available for help. I work in an office on campus and I couldn't be happier with my job. The adult workers are very kind and respectful and approachable, and my duties are interesting and have taught me a lot about the business world. The campus is absolutely beautiful and well maintained, and the dorms aren't bad either - nothing to rave about though. DO NOT LIVE ON SOUTH CAMPUS IF YOU VALUE YOUR REPUTATION. I did, and I actually love south campus, but it's SO true that the second people hear you live there, they judge you. It's also much harder to make friends when you live on "that side" of campus.People at UST are NOT friendly. Don't expect to have a social life unless you plan to get involved in a sport or RHA (resident life association) or some other club. It seems like no one is out to just make friends with others in their classes or dorms or whatever. I don't play a sport and I haven't found a club I'm interested in, so it's been nearly impossible for me to make friends. It's true that everyone goes to the U of M to party on weekends. The school completely empties out between Friday and Sunday. Plan on bringing a fake ID and knowing someone at the U if you want to have fun. I definitely regret my decision to come to UST and I'm looking at schools to transfer to after this year (I'm a sophomore). Most people I talk to in class aren't in love with the school. It's bearable because of how much I appreciate the academics, but only just.
