I am going to be a graduate of Augustana's Neuroscience Department in 2013. I have to say, I am not a fan of the school nor the department I am graduating from. First of all, Augustana is not a highly ranked institution. I know many people don't consider ranking, but Augustana is ranked in the triple digits and not single digits for a reason. It is not a very good school. First of all, campus resources are terrible. I seriously do not understand why anyone in their right mind would want to attend this institution. When I first came to College I was a reserved, nerdy kid, who did not really speak for himself. I really regret my personality when I was 18, and now at 22 I wish I would have been more outspoken and realistic. I have to admit what attracted me to this university was the money they offered me (which they apparently offered everyone) and the fact that I could be away from my parents; I really wanted that independence as an 18 year-old. Please for the Love of God, do not attend this institution. It will eat your money and waste your time. I have to say, I really hated this place and wished every second I could have transferred, but Augustana is beaurocratic academia at its best. It runs on a trimester system. Why? Its simple, so you can't transfer. The school knows that the minute you start college you will soon realize that it would be a lot nicer to take courses at a 16 week pace than a 10 week pace. Trust me it is. Having more time and resources to understand information can never hurt you, it can only help. I will make this short. Do not go to this school! You are limiting yourself and you are going to pay the price!
