UIC is unique in that is an urban school with a history of its own. I took art history electives and learned a lot about UIC's Brutalist form and the mastermind behind it. I don't really have the time to give a history lesson, but you could go visit the school library exhibit about the school's history. During my years as an undergraduate student, I developed friendships with two of my professors. Everyone in the department was willing to help the students who were motivated enough to seek help. My fellow french classmates all knew each other by name, and I never felt like a stranger. The professors offered advice for getting into graduate programs, and they encouraged us all to study abroad. They were always willing to act as references, and even pointed us to different opportunities to use our french. I cannot complain about my education. The resources were there and I took advantage of them.

I love that there was a movement to get more student support for the intercollegiate sports teams, but I think a successful movement should involve more monetary support from the school itself.

If I could change anything about my experience, I would be more active in extracurriculars like the student government.

Note to all alumni: Start supporting your alma mater and stop complaining about what should have been. UIC is a young school, so of course there is much room for it to improve. Be a force in making it what you wish it had been.
