Date: Oct 15 2012 Major: Video/Media (This Major's Salary over time) I would not have gone to UMSL if I knew what I know now. My classes did not prepare me at all for the job market. The career counseling amounted to someone doing an internet job search for me which I could have done myself - except I had to pay them for it. I have been underemployed and unemployed since graduating. I volunteer constantly in order to maintain experience and a line on my resume, but I can't pay any of my student debts and am currently being sued for not being able to pay for my unsecured debts. I have tried applying for work outside my field (e.g. secretarial or gas station work), but I don't get past the application process. My advise - find out what jobs are in demand and get the quickest, practical education which leads to them. If you're going for a degree, make sure you have a job lined up to justify the expense. Don't think the hard work or degree from UMSL is going to lead to a career. That's a big mistake.
