There are so many better schools to go to than Penn State Harrisburg. I never take any of these reviews too seriously because its all relative, but most have it correct.

The social aspect of PSH is the worst part of the entire experience. There is absolutely nothing to do, unless you can go home. I am not a drinker or partner which makes it even worse, but even if I was the parties are terrible anyway, they all get busted fairly quickly. The first week gave the worst reflection of what the campus is actually like. Everyone hung out outside their dorms in the quad and met each other. There were many events throughout the entire school, and it was great. After the first two weeks, though, it decreased fairly quickly. There is an event occasionally, which are usually fun, but its very rare to have one. The residence life staff are the only ones working to put events together, and its slow at that. I have never used the phrase "bored to death" as much as I have since I got here. I am not exaggerating. If you don't have car too, forget about it. You will go crazy.

The campus itself is beautiful, especially in the fall. Penn state does a great job at keeping up with it. Outside the campus though, is, in lack of better terms, a shit hole. Middletown is a dying town with people who do NOT want you there. They are miserable olde people that will do anything to get you away.

Academics are very good at PSH. You will. Undoubtedly be challenged in a good portion of your classes. Most of your processors are "doctors." You get out of it what you give into it. If you do nothing and do the bare minimum to pass, that is what you'll get out of it. Take advantage of the fantastic processor faculty, they are VERY smart and are very willing to help you.

As far as the staff goes, the teachers are very smart and very helpful. That's probably the best thing at PSH. You can get a fantastic education, if you don't mind being bored to death in the process.

The advising is TERRIBLE. Do your own research and be proactive into your own. Use the advising staff as the last step to just see if there are any helpful hints. The other clerical staff is bad as well. They are rude, mean, and not helpful at all. They seem like they hate their life and just don't want to be there.

The residence life staff is amazing, though. They are so friendly, so kind, and extremely outgoing. Put yourself out there with them, they are definitely worth getting to know. The RAs, being a part of that staff, are just as awesome. They're all so friendly and so nice. Very helpful and are willing to go out of their way.

All in all, PSH is a great school. But the amount of boredom and nothingness that ensues from this school are so much greater than everything else and unfortunately shadow and take away from the campus itself. I would NOT suggest coming here UNLESS you stay inside all day every day. I, along with MANY others are transferring out next semester, along with many fall of next year.
