Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
Firstly, do not come here if you an art major. The department has very limited course offerings and the classes fill up quick. One of my intentions when choosing to go to a private University was not having to deal with wait-lists like I did at the community college in my area (I took classes there during high school). That isn't the case. In fact, the community college offered a wider array of art classes than Redlands does. They often only offer some classes at night, which is a pain, and not to mention that the building is very far from residence halls, with dimly lit pathways on a campus known to have sketchy men and occurrences of sexual assault frequently. Walking down to the building at night makes me uncomfortable. That being said, the faculty that does work in the department is a dream. Every professor I have met and taken classes within the department has been lovely, as well as the facilities. I just wish their course offerings reflected them. If you really want to study Art, there is a better school with a better department for you.

The campus is creepy and I feel unsafe walking around when it isn't light out. It is open and there are often tons of non-students walking around and reports of sexual harassment. Considering the amount of sexual assault and harassment that DOES get reported, I can only imagine how much doesn't. (They boast about their "on-campus" shuttle that supposedly "solves" this problem, but it doesn't at all. It is hugely inefficient.) I don't know any woman on this campus that feels completely comfortable walking around alone when the sun goes down, which is a problem.

The Internet is almost unusable. I can barely load Google at times or even the University website. I know college Internet is supposed to be slow, but this takes the cake as being completely awful.

The food is disgusting. They recently spent a ton of money renovating The Commons, only to serve more expensive and even less appealing food. Most people I know feel sick after most meals and have had food poisoning at least once.

If you don't party, you're going to feel like you don't fit in. You will be able to find a group of friends, but it is obvious the Greek and party community runs the campus. They boast that they aren't a typical Greek community but there is no doubt that they clearly are.

There is little diversity. The campus is primarily made up of white, middle class students. They, of course, boast about being diverse, when they really aren't. The campus is very accepting, however, which I guess counts as being "diverse."

I think the only thing this University is good at is hiring great staff and professors and Study Abroad (cost is the same as a semester at Redlands, just have to pay extra airfare and living expenses). Other than that, there is not really much to like.
