I too know that this school isn't for me because of the reasons you described. I'm going to stick it out until I can get into somewhere else. |
Carter Hall was out dated when I lived there in '83 when it was all male. |
I believe the best advice is: NEVER COME TO TOLEDO OR ITS UNIVERSITY. The economy and people of the place reflects highly onto the quality of the school. Only recommend this shit-hole to people you REALLY hate. |
Major: Pharmacy (This Major's Salary over time)
Coming to this school was the worst decision of my life. I went on a campus tour and fell in love with the places that the tour guide took us. I thought the campus was beautiful and the way that the guide made it sound, I was home. I was sold a faulty product. When i moved into Carter, the dorm was run down, the showers were rusty and unclean and about a month after I had been there, mold started to appear in my dorm. Many of the people that lived in rooms near me had their air conditioner fall on them, or leak water onto their belongings. Most, not all of the people here have no sense of courtesy or cleanliness. On many occcasions I have found feminine products in the showers, or lots of hair. The showers are cleaned every morning. On several occasions, male mantienence workers were in the bathroom when I showed up there in a towel. But aside from the atrocious on-campus living, the surounding city is scary as hell. I live in Jackson Michigan, and in coming to Toledo i was seriously terrified for my life. When I came for my campus tour, they gave us directions so we would come through the good side of Toledo, so it would appear to be nicer than it actually was.All freshman are required to park on the Scott Park campus of the university which is where drug deals occur, and other forms of sketchy activity at night. On several occasions I had to park over there and take the bus back, witnessing criminal activity before actually getting on the bus. One of my fellow students had her radio stolen from her car, and the university didn't notice until a week later. (Since the car is on a different campus and she didnt drive for a week). I personally experienced a man watching me from a distance in a van, and I have no doubt in my mind if I would have stuck around much longer, I would have been kidnapped, or worse. As far as education goes, most of it is sub par. And most of the faculty, seem extremely uneducated and ill-trained for the positions that they have been placed in.The campus also smells like sewage in certain areas all the time. But of course they don't take you to those places when they take you on a campus tour because they want you to think the campus is clean.Needless to say, save your money and don't come here. As I said above in this review, I was sold a faulty product. This place is now my living hell for the rest of this semester. I will be going back to community college and going to Grand Valley State University in the fall.
