WCC is college that is best for those who need a second chance after failing at their first school and for people looking to save money. I attended WCC in 2008 in order to save money for my first two years and then transfer to a 4 year college later. Grounds- WCC is located in westchester in valhalla and is about 15-20 mins from the city of White Plains. the campus itself is pretty clean with decent buildings. However, some of them are spread far apart from eachother which can going from classes annoying, especially if it is raining or snowing. unfortunately, there are not enough parking spots for everyone and you could spend a long time looking for a place to park. I've never heard of anyone damaging someones car, despite what oher people have said (i drove to WCC for 2 years. Education- Classes really depend on the professors. SOme professors are great and you can learn and do well in their classes. But unfortunately, there are some very terrible professors who can ruin GPAs and waste your time and money. As a science student, most of the professors I had were good especially the reifenbergs, thompson, kim walsh, richards. However, one thing about WCC is that it really is not that challenging. for example, all the biology classes have multiple choice exams. the nonscience students had difficulty with these, but I generally did good just by reading over my notes a few times before class. After i transferred to Purchase College, the classes were more difficult (with almost no Multiple Choice exams) and Purchase is not really a great school eitherStudent life- most ppl in WCC come to class and then leave. in order to have a student life you have to really join the clubs or organizations. however, there are a lot of (for lack of a better term) idiots in WCC. many ppl are lazy or just plain stupid. there are many smart and hard working ppl too, but you will be amazed at how many dumb ppl there are. OverallIf you can go to a 4 year school rite after HS, that is better than attending WCC not bcuz it is a terrible school but because it lacks the reputation of 4 year institutions. For example, as I apply to med school, many of the medical colleges have stated that they prefer that potential students not take required courses at community colleges. But if youre poor (like me) or ruined your first chance, WCC is good way to transfer to another school and save $. WCC has agreements with more schools since ive graduated, and if you do good, you can even get scholarships. the best thing to do is to apply to other SUNY schools (ex. binghamton, stony brooK) as they will automatically accept all your courses with passing grades. the transfer process is not difficult either (despite what others say). the thing is that you have to do the whole process urself and the schoold doesnt hold your hand the whole way like in HS. But if you work hard, join clubs, and get an associates degree you should be able to transfer to a better SUNY school which is really what you should aim for. Graduated from WCC in 2010 with 3.76 gpaGraduated from Purchase in 2012 with 3.86 gpaCurrently applying to medical colleges and taking partime classes in WCC again to prepare
