Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
I've found UIC to be a great place—people who claim to hate their professor because they on their homework? Jeez. Try a little time management, friends. I'm in the English department and the faculty are well known nationally and on the balance, good teachers. As with any big university, you will have some that are more committed, or more exciting in lecture than others. UIC, (like, I anticipate, careers later) will not hand you everything on a silver platter. To be really successful and happy here, you need to be intentional about building relationships with faculty and your classmates. I suggest getting involved in organizations, internships, and undergraduate research experiences (even for English!). If you're willing to put in the effort, you can reap rewards from UIC.
