As a current Interior Design Student, I highly suggest that you look into other options. The curriculum used to be great, with fantastic specialty teachers. Recently the school has laid off ALL Academic Advisors, and 4 specialty Interior Design teachers. Therefore the current teachers, who are still there are pushed to their limits and do not have the work experience to share with students as the other specialty teachers did. This results in a poorly structured course and the students not learning real life experience.

Please make sure to look for an Interior Design Program that is CIDA Accredited. This means that the school has be certified to be teaching current and proper material. This Illinois Institute of Art Chicago is currently CIDA Accredited but from the way things are going there is a possibility they could loose it.

Ai Chicago is heading for the worst. It is unclear as to where the tuition money is going. Recently the school has installed 42" tv's all over both campuses. During the same quarter over 20+ instructors were laid off… this is not the kind of place you want to be giving your money to.

Please please please look into other Interior Design Programs…

Look for CIDA Accredited, and professional student chapters such as ASID and IIDA.

Please contact me if you would like more advice on good Interior Design Education.
