Honestly, seeing the negative reviews make me very sad, because I love HPU and wouldn't choose to go anywhere else! College is what you make of it, no matter where you go, and I feel that the people who say they "hate everything" about the school and find that the other students are "stuck up" or "rich snobs" are hanging out with the wrong people. I have thrown myself into campus life, and have gotten to know many kind, down to earth people. There is always something to do on campus, be it a CAT event or a basketball game or what have you. Sure, there are a few wealthy kids that walk around acting like they're God's gift to Earth, but, come on, what were you expecting when you decided to go to a private school? The good news is that there are few kids like that and they tend to stick to themselves. I for one would not be at HPU without my very generous Presidential Scholarship, and I know many students in the same position as me.As for the surrounding town, yes High Point is not very nice, but we are only 15 minutes away from Greensboro, and an hour and a half from both Raleigh and Charlotte, so I do not feel like I'm missing out.Do not come to High Point just for the amenities, because you will get bored quickly and not appreciate everything that the school has to offer. If you come for just the fancy dorms and shiny offers, you'll be disappointed to find out that yes, you do have to attend classes, and no, you cannot party nonstop and expect to succeed. On that note, do you really care that the kiosks aren't open past 11 am? Are you that much of a spoiled brat? I'm thankful that I'm able to grap a FREE muffin granola bar, apple banana, yogurt and hot chocolate or water bottle on my way to class in the morning. Would it be cool if I could get a snack all day? Yeah, but then the transition to the real world after graduation would be that much harder. ;)All in all, I love my school, and wouldn't trade it for the world. And for all of you that are on here posting such negative, nasty things, take a step back and reevaluate: maybe you're the problem. At least try to be thankful for the wonderful academics, people, staff, and amenities that HPU has to offer.
