This school is a commuter school. Everybody knows it. Most people go home on the weekends or commute. Campus is empty on the weekends. I can walk all the way through campus and see only a handful of people. When i first got here it was the weekend and the campus was not empty, but very boring and a decent amount of people, but as the year goes on you see less and less people on the weekends because no one likes to be living in a place that feels empty. Then when the week days come around i asked myself, "where the fuck did all these people come from?" There is a lot of diversity at this school, but not much unity. I think a good way to think of this school is that it is great if you enjoy meeting people. But bad if you want to make friends. Campus is extrememly seperated from the city of Charlottle. It takes forever to get out of campus to even attempt to do something in the city and there is never any parking during the week. On the weekends you can park sideways all you want because no one is coming to take that spot. Campus police are everywhere, and they are not friendly or nice. They just wait and look for anyone they can get a quick bust on to make money. No place on campus is save to drink or do anything illegal unless you are in your dorm room. Even then watch out becuase you are going to have a least a couple snoopy people who look for people acting weird or smelly to call the police on. First two weeks at the school and had the cops, not campus police, cops. At my dorm knocking on doors asking about marijuana and who is dealing becuase one room couldn't contain the smell one night. People are always looking for an excuse to come and find out what you are doing in your room. I have had security guards come to my room several times becuase "we were talking too loud" at like 10 at night. Oak Hall is not the place to be at and all the others seem just as bad and don't even think about enjoying life at the high rises. You need a car to do anything at this school unless you like to walk to the outside campus to the bus, which is still a good walk. Charlotte is a pretty good city, but this school is not in the city. Your looking at a 15 min drive to downtown. The campus is just simply boring. It is neat and manicured and everything, but it lacks creativity, excitement, and everything is just like office buildings. Other than that this school makes it easy to sign up for classes so that you can try and have all your classes on two or three days a week.
