I have to say I really love UT. I've only spent one semester there so far but I cannot wait for second semester. The school is what you make of it. If you want it to be a party school you can make it that, and if thats not what you're into you'll still find good company. The food is good. Sure, sometimes I get a little sick of it but that happens at every college I promise. I'm from Chicago so Tampa definitely doesn't seem like a great big city to me but its still urban and you won't get bored. I think Ybor is kinda sketchy but if you have a big group of people (girls make sure you have guys in your group) it's totally fine. If you're not looking for any trouble you'll be fine.Everyday I feel safe on the campus. My friend lived in the hotel and left his door unlocked all the time. Nothing was ever stolen. Everyone on our floor befriended each other and we became like a family. The people at UT are so great. People who complain about the school say that everyone is conservative, in greek life, slutty or cocky, only cares about partying, and arrogant. That really has not been my experience here. I'm not on any sports teams, not in greek life, I don't own a car (theres no way IN HELL my parents would buy me a porche or something) and I'm a pretty open minded person. I've made plenty of friends. Ya, I've run into some assholes but every school has that. I think that people are very friendly and welcoming. It's a nice size so you're not stuck with the same people all the time and I swear I met someone new and interesting almost everyday. My experience with the staff has been great. I've never run into any type of trouble. Except, I was pissed when the health and wellness center just recommend I take robitussin for my cough and it turned out I had bronchitis and need antibiotics. Other than that though all of my professors knew my name and genuinely cared about me. Some of the staff at the food places knew me and I though that was really welcoming. I've already made really good connection through the school and I think that the tuition is worth it. I love this school, for the most part, the students seem pretty happy and I miss it when I'm gone.
