Hey man I am a current lacrosse recruit from Virginia and just read this. Can you tell me more about what the lacrosse was like and are you playing at maryland? Was the social scene not enjoyable? |
Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
I grew up in MD and got recruited to play lacrosse here at JU. I thought what you're thinking, beach, girls, weather etc. The school is overpriced, if you are going to pay this much to go to a school go to UNF. The quality of the education is pittiful. The people are closed minded and clicky. the "frats" and "sororities" are just absolutely pitiful, they have "frat halls" not houses, they are so full of themselves they think the run the campus and are always in khaki shorts and plaid button ups like they attend a real frat like Alabama. If you have the money to spend and cannot get into a good school this is the place for you. There is absolutely no reason for someone who lives in florida to attend this school, please attend a public university and pay $6k a year and not $35k. You will come out of this school in debt (or your parents) up to your eyeballs and your employer will see you went to a mediocre school with one of the HIGHEST retention rates in the whole country. I transferred to the University of Maryland and am happier than ever and am getting a top notch education at 1/3 of the price, and you know what the weather isn't too bad because just like you I grew up here. You wouldn't pay $100k for a '98 civic would you? because by going here that is the same logic you are using. Buy an affordable practical car, metaphorically speaking of course. Attend this school if your parents have money to blow, you already have friends in NE Florida, you don't mind living in a dorm room for the mandatory 2 years(the RA's are ridiculous), you didn't get in anywhere else (actually I would have rather gone to Wor-wic community college), or you just don't plan on living long enough to every see your maxed out credit cards paying for your maximum allowed student loans with the gov't and wells fargo.JSB
