If I were you, I would turn the other way when considering going to UNC. When you go to orientation, you meet tons of awesome people but this school is seriously out to steal your money. MANY students have problems with financial aid and end up paying the price.

The Res Ed is okay, but they won't settle for less than perfect if you're looking for a job as an RA. They're strict beyond comprehension and you're expected to pretty much forget about having a social life of your own and attend to other people.

DO NOT sign up to be a Diversity Mentor as a scholarship either. That program is WAY too undefined and stupid to function correctly.

Also, the theatre department is HORRIBLE. Most of the people you meet have something shoved up their ass, they all think they're the best at what they do, and the worst part is that NONE of them are willing to teach you. Not even the god damn teachers. If you don't get it right the first time you might as well just switch majors because they will force you out in Jury each semester. Yes that's right I said jury. Your enrollment in their program is always subject to change.

Also Anne Toewe, the head of the Design Technician department, is a really big bitch. She's intimidating to talk to and rules with an iron fist. I don't suggest going into this unless you're ready to deal with her and her uppity attitude as well. It was way too much for me so I transferred and I'm glad I did. This school is terrible.

WATCH YOUR FINANCIAL AID LIKE A HAWK. They WILL NOT tell you what's what on your bill. In fact, they lie about most of it anyway. There's money I should get back every year that just disappears somewhere in their system and they WONT budge if they make an error and take too much money but they will harass you to pay them back if they accidentally deposit too much money into your account. Just beware. That department SUCKS when it comes to customer service.
