I loved LU - it provided me with a great knowledge base. Because its a small school its more generalized (i.e. there's only a Biology major, not Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Microbiology majors, etc.), but professors are more than accomodating for student interests. I took many independent studies about topics of my choice and learned a lot. You might not learn some specific facts, but Lawrence certainly teaches you how to think through problems and process information.

Professors are generally easy to get a hold of and talk to - at Lawrence you're on a first-name basis with your professors, which is a far cry from bigger state schools. I was definitely challenged in coursework, and my freshmen year had a steep learning curve! It's expensive but you get your money's worth.

As far as the social life goes, for me it was perfect. There were generally parties every weekend at one of the small group houses or frats, and some on the weekdays. Otherwise campus is pretty chill. There's usually something going on, whether it's a club activity, musical performance, trivia in the VR (Viking Room, the on-campus bar).

My only issue was with how campus took care of the small group houses - some of them are falling apart. This is a shame, because a lot of the community feel for me came from these houses, not from the dorms.
