I have read some reviews online about UD and honestly it makes me sad that some people don't like it here. I get everyone is entitled to their own opinions but there is no need to hate on the school. Especially if you are already here. If you don't like it, then don't come back.

I've grown up in the DYT my whole life and I have a different perspective. Coming from a high school where most kids did not want to be near here or set foot on this campus, I was the opposite, not because I was a homebody, but because this is a damn good school. My entire family, aunts uncles and parents have been through here, so it is basically it my blood to be at UD.

First year dorms are nice dorms. Granted founders is kind of like a match box :) but I live in Stuart currently. it has been remodled and updated and your key card gets your into all three wings. it is a far walk but it will keep your legs in shape. its worth it, i promise. Marycrest is a great dorm too, with their own food court, but they are notorious for fire alarms, mostly due to the lovely drunks who love to pull it. during exam week it was five times. Marianist is the newest freshmen/sophomore dorm, and they have nice sized rooms.

Basketball—If you do not follow it, you will at UD. it is a way of life here. I have been going to games since i was a young one and they are one of the best things about UD. All of Dayton comes out to watch the Flyers play ball, regardless whether they are alumni or not.

Community is very strong in Dayton and at UD and people are welcoming. Some seniors I know were really helpful one weekend and the upperclassmen actually care about the younger ones. You will walk away with some of your best friends after four years here, so I have been told.

Social life- One unique thing about UD is the student neighborhood. It is fondly refered to as the Ghetto. What it is is a whole bunch of student housing in one neighborhood which is very special to the university. All the upperclassmen live out there and when there are parties, they are a blast. yes people drink a lot. and there are people who DON'T drink a lot too. they are there, I promise. It may seem like UD kids are alcoholics, but really its just a bunch of kids having a good time. And anywhere you go, you know there will be drinking. its college. it happens.

UD is Catholic. It is a Marianist college that is Catholic and a large majority of kids here are practicing catholics. they are not shove it down your throat religious either. Kids do go to church and participate on retreats. I love it here because of my faith but what you do and how you act is up to you.
