Major: Finance (This Major's Salary over time)
This school leaves a lot more to be desired. For what the tuition is, you would expect a great school with A+ facilities, somewhat comfortable dorms, and great professors - right? Wrong. Fairfield doesnt have any of this. FACILITIES: Two words. 1) OLD. 2) RUN-DOWN. Every building smells like mold you would have from water damage, has squeaky desks, and crammed classrooms. And when the classrooms dont even have markers or chalk and instead of getting them the professor decides to teach an entire ACCOUNTING class verbally on more than one occasion…that just speaks for itself. DORMS: The dorms are terrible. Absolutely terrible. They smell like shit (for lack of a better term), the showers get mildly warm on a good day (never even close to hot), and the bathrooms are so outdated. Also if you are close to/taller than 6' you better practice showering hunched over. The rooms are like a jail cell…if you go visit, dont fall for the "demo" room in McCormick they take you to see - tell them you want to see a real, true sized room and watch their face turn. Also, prepare for usually 3 or 4 working showers for a half floor of people…FACULTY/PERSONEL: In my two semesters at Fairifield I have had 10, yes 10 professors. I changed every single class my second semester because the majority of the professors were absolutely terrible. 3/5 professors I had the first semester literally talked down to the students and acted like you were bothering them when asking a question - frequently grunting and saying something along the lines of "Well obviously…" or even chuckling at your question. Changed all my professors for the next semester with hopes of getting better professors…nope…same thing. 3/5 must be the magic number. When I say the maintenance personel or Sodexo employees are more down to Earth than these snobby professors, I mean it. Ive had better conversations with them than I have with my professors. Nearly every professor walks around like they cant be bothered and that they are untouchable because they get to stand infront of a group of teenagers with a white board marker. The majority of these professors are stuck up and try hard to stick their views down your throat. There are a handful of good ones though, but they are hard to come by. I am by no means saying each and every professor is like this - although 6/10 I had were. Oh and one word…tenure. I have had a professor stand up in front of the class and say they do not care what the course surveys/reviews mean (end of semester survey) because of (and I quote) "one word…tenure. Its a wonderful thing." Food is mediocre but there are two spots to eat on campus; however, they wear out after a while as the food is repetitive. The people are very judgemental and single-minded. They immediately form their 4 bff's and dont talk to anyone else seriously. If partying includes sitting in a jail cell of a dorm room and sipping natty ice in your vineyard vines sweaters until you get busted up by the overactive public safety officer who thinks hes saving the world, then you are on the right track. Read the other reviews for more details.I dont mean to trash this school - it is beautiful aesthetically, but Im just fed up that I didnt see this before I spent the time, money, and effort to go here. Wish I found this site before hand…definitely transferring schools.
