This is in regard to the Douglas campus.

The Avionics program is great. Difficult but challenging. I'll be qualified to work in Avionics when I'm done. I'm currently 6 months through a 12-month program.

My problem with Cochise college is that it's outdated, ugly, and incredibly depressing.

The dorms haven't seen any TLC since 1968. They feel like cell blocks. Cracked concrete, cold sterile brick walls.

Zero cell phone service in dorms, with dropped calls anywhere on campus 40% of the time. Internet service is atrocious: The entire campus is served by a 12Mbit cable connection - I had a faster connection in my apartment before I came here.

The BIGGEST problem, especially for students that live on campus, is the food service program. SODEXO, a generic pre-made food service company, makes horrible food and charges amazingly high prices for it. You're required to purchase a $1750 meal plan, and then you're bent over a barrel to buy expensive food because the nearest alternative is 15 miles away. I bought an 8-bar box of granola bars today that cost me $13. You could buy the same at Walmart for $2. A 24-pack of bottled water costs $36.

"Campus Life" is virtually non-existent. On normal college campuses, there's music, kids playing frisbee in the quad, activities on the weekends where the public can come and take part.. There's NOTHING going on here. The kids segregate themselves based on sport and race.

The campus is poorly maintained. The majority of the workers on campus are inmates at the local correctional facility. They wear the full-orange jumpsuit while perving out to the female students forced to walk by them. I can't even believe it, but there they are!

Lots of cracked asphalt covered with rough gravel. One of the dorm buildings is entirely unoccupied; probably because it's falling apart. Wild animals all over the place, including javelina, skunks, mice, rattle snakes, coatimundi, coyotes. It's enough of an issue that I mention it.

The gym is not convenient for use unless you're in a sport.

This place should be an aviation-only school. They have a runway with a dozen planes. The aviation/avionics department is the best and really only good thing about being here. They could make a killing bringing in pilots from around the world.
