Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
Marymount is what you make of it, as all colleges are. There are a lot of opportunities for students to participate in activities that they are interested in. It is very easy to get involved. It's a small liberal arts university; some people like that. Some people don't. You can be a big fish in a small pond at this school. One thing that I really like about the academic programs here is that you can often choice a track within your major. For example, within the English major, Marymount offers 4 tracks in writing, literature, dramatic arts, and education. There are similar opportunities within the art major, communications major and the school of business. However, in the school of business, it is not called a "track." It is called a "specialty." At Marymount, it is required that you complete an internship before graduation. I recommend that you start a positive relationship with your adviser early on, and they will help you. Make a relationship with your professors too. They will get to know you- it's a small campus. Love it or hate it, but the environment is warm. You can get a great education here, and build your resume as well. Props to the new president, Dr. Shank, in his valiant efforts to beautify the campus and starting the Common Ground Campaign. Hopefully the school will become more well known and eventually more prestigious. The school is a hidden gem. Marymount offers many programs that are accredited in high regard within the profession realm. Since, this school will be a Alma mater, I hope that this will pay off, and I can be proud to say that I was an MU Saint in college.
