I had an awesome experience at UNC Charlotte. I lived on campus all four years and enjoyed every minute of it. Comparing the faculty at UNC Charlotte with those at my graduate school (Appalachian State), UNC Charlotte professors were generally more demanding academically, professional and tended to be more accomplished from a research/publication perspective which is likely indicative of the research focus of the university. I always felt safe while on campus and never encountered an issues. Some parts of Charlotte can be sketchy but compared to peer cities Charlotte tends to rank pretty well. The campus continues to grow significantly with new dorms, a brand new student union, classrooms not to mention a new football program. This school draws students from all over the US/world making the student population diverse which is a positive. The city itself has access to professional sports, lots of restaurants, shopping, movie theaters, bars, international airport. I would highly recommend at least checking this campus out, especially if you live in NC. Compared to other schools UNC-Charlotte was extremely affordable. Tuition is the second lowest plus housing in Charlotte was much cheaper and generally nicer than the other schools I considered.
