Teachers throughout the Maricopa community college district have total dictatorial authority over grades. It is not a problem with most teachers, and it is not something you would find out until you find the one teacher that is simply malevolent, and there is nothing the department or even the dean can do about it. It just takes one to destroy your GPA without real cause. You must either take the course over (preferably at another Maricopa Community College (as the math department at Mesa can be spiteful when one of their own is challenged), or forget about scholarships. I suppose a female could get very good grades on her knees in this system.

Most of the teachers are great, absolutely into teaching, will find time to help, and you can learn here. But there is absolutely no competent advisement, everything from class scheduling to financial aid to finding out what class? you will need toward a certain degree are all for you to figure out pretty much on your own. This school will eat up your entire grant and loans for nothing more than an associates if it can. You need to be careful here. Most of the teachers are great, but the way the system works it only takes one, and the school really is out to get as much of your money as it possibly can.
