While many of the comments below are not untrue, I want to try and give as objective of a review of Auburn as I possibly can.

I will start off positive. The students and alumni of Auburn are mostly friendly and loyal. School spirit is always very high, and while intellectual arrogance is rarely encountered, you can come across the socially arrogant fraternity brother or see the sorority girl with a permament B-shield(although this is true of most pretty girls).

The main comment I would like to make about Auburn comes with the culture of the student body. I find many students at Auburn do not really care about learning, and the ones that do care about it for the wrong reasons. Students at Auburn are very pragmatic, meaning that you will rarely find a student majoring in a field that he is interested in, and will more commonly find students majoring in fields that get them good jobs. Do not forget that Auburn is in the deep south, so there the good old boy, truck driving, country music listening to atmosphere is very prevalent, which is not a bad thing. The bad thing about the southern atmosphere I feel is the close mindedness and lack of diversity it promotes. I would discourage those of religious backgrounds differing from Christianity or in all honesty those of diverse ethnic backgrounds to attend Auburn as your individualism will not be appreciated.

All in all Auburn is a great school for those who fit the traditional Auburn mold, and its not a terrible university for those who do not. Just for many there are different schools, and different state schools, that will fit them better.
