Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
All through high school, I assumed that my college career would sort itself out by the time it got there. By the time I was a senior, I realized that I just wouldn't have enough money to go to a four year university, and I was devastated. I was too proud to take out loans and I figured I'd spend one year at College of DuPage and see what money I could save and I'd leave as soon as possible. As it turned out, that was not the case. Though not for the reasons you might think. My first semester, I started getting involved. I joined clubs (Pride Alliance and Alter Ego Productions) and started making friends and got really involved in the school. I LOVED it. I loved the people, I loved the opportunities, I loved the new buildings on campus, I loved the library, and I even loved the classes. I was really surprised by this, but I think that what really did it for me was getting involved. You can save a lot of money at College of DuPage, but make sure to get involved in activities! You'll meet really great people. You might not find the exact right fit at first, but keep trying. I honestly believe there is a place for everybody here. Classes are kind of hit and miss. Check Rate My Professor before signing up for any classes. They'll give you a general idea of what to expect. Sometimes you'll have to do a general search on a professor's name because they will have taught at other colleges too and they're only part time at College of DuPage, but they're always there somewhere. I've had some really amazing professors (Bradley Sleeth for Earth Science, Colleen McCoy for psychology, Eric Martinson for English) and I've had some terrible ones, though I won't name names. Basically, this college is what you make of it. If you don't care and you go in and keep your head down and put in the minimum time required, you probably won't have any fun. But if you start to get involved, you'll have better relationships with your teachers and you might even find an awesome part time job or a place in an organization where you can get paid!
