So disappointed in this school… it has been my dream to live in San Francisco, and I couldn't wait to start my life out as a young adult at SFSU. Coming from southern California, there was minimal culture shock and more excitement than anything. Still, as time progressed, I grew beyond displeased with the demographic of my fellow students. It's a commuter school, so it really does feel more like a community college. I had to live off-campus, which is a no-no in social circles because the dorms are full of cliques. Everyone (at least the vast majority of freshmen I encountered) seems to be competing for who can act most like they're a party kid in high school—it's embarrassing. The faculty is a mixed bag, much like any school, and the work is reasonable but still very reminiscent of high school. Administration is next to useless. This school has not challenged me, educationally or socially, and is a tremendous letdown.

I hear you. I loved living in San Francisco but the school really let me down. Yes, I am familiar with the red tape of the CSU system, but the overall level of dedication and scholarship really disappointed me. Most people just seemed determined to get As by doing as little work as possible. Class discussions were so simplistic and shallow that they were below high school level. I had some great teachers here, but I wonder how most of the student body could ever get into university at all.
