Marquette University is not worth the money you pay to attend. The basketball team and the hype around it are the only thing that helped get me through my first and only year at Marquette. I am now attending school in North Carolina and am much happier. The school work is very difficult which is good, but besides the education there is not much more the school has to offer. The name is prestigious but mostly because of the cost, and being a private Jesuit university. The staff has office hours, but they are usually extremely short and many students are waiting so often times I was rushed or had another student with me, which made me hold back or leave because I didn't want other students knowing my struggle, I wanted my professor just to help me understand. Instead almost every single time, I was rushed and given short, annoyed answers. All of my TA's DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. It was very frustrating trying to keep up in class when you couldn't understand a word they were saying. There are a lot of nice people on campus, but if one doesn't make friends fast, then cliques are formed without you. I don't think anyone in any of my classes talked to me without me previously knowing them. Where I'm from that was not how people behaved so it was difficult to enjoy campus and school in general. If you have deep deep pockets and a lot of patience and determination, Marquette may be the perfect fit for you. But if you're looking for an education in which the professors take the time to genuinely help you to understand the material, and you want to know a lot of people I suggest going elsewhere.
