Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
I have seen far too many people in my major slip by with minimal effort. If you are the type of person that is self-motivated, then you're likely to be fine at this school; otherwise, prepare to be unprepared for real life. Professors initiate critiques without giving any real feedback, and do not at all stress how cutthroat the career paths their students are entering are. Most of the professors that I have had are very friendly/helpful/good people, but they're kind to the point that they are afraid to tell students if anything they've done needs improvement, so there is no opportunity to grow, unless you are able to recognize where your strengths need to be improved on your own. This isn't true in every case, but almost all of my classes have been entirely too easy (I have so far reached up to 400-level classes, so I can't speak for anything above that). All in all, I feel as if this is the type of school that believes that its only job is to look good and hand out degrees. If all you're looking for is a decent GPA, friends, and a diploma, then this school will probably be okay for you. However, if you want to gain a solid understanding of what being a professional in your future career path will be like, I'd recommend going somewhere else.I'm not saying that professors should be cracking down on students and ruining their confidence. It's just that they are inflating the confidence of their students in skills that they are not helping them to develop. Overconfidence combined with low a low skill level is a really dangerous state to be in.All in all, I am very unhappy with this school. It is not even remotely close to being as challenging as it claims itself to be, so if you are looking for high academic quality above all else, don't make the same mistake I did. Don't let TCNJ be your reach school; you can likely do better than this.
